Amazon’s Echo device can be instructed to read stories to someone, change the temperature, add items to a grocery list, or place a phone call. Reitz says that this Voice-user Interface Technology allows individuals to “regain independence and feel supported in their own home as long as possible without the need for institutionalization.”

She shares that BSIS program would be a great fit for someone passionate about using technology that can make a difference in peoples’ lives.
