Amazon’s Echo device can be instructed to read stories to someone, change the temperature, add items to a grocery list, or place a phone call. Reitz says that this Voice-user Interface Technology allows individuals to “regain independence and feel supported in their own home as long as possible without the need for institutionalization.”
