Founded in 1965 and located just outside of Washington, D.C., the University of Maryland (UMD) College of Information (INFO) is a top-ten ranked research and teaching college in the field of information science. The college’s faculty, staff, and students are expanding the frontiers of how people access and use information and technology in an evolving world – in government, education, business, social media, and more. Lecturer (Open Rank)

The College of Information Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park (INFO), invites applications for a full-time, professional track lecturer with expertise in project management, student teamwork, engaging external stakeholders, and developing and implementing experiential learning projects. This position will focus on supporting and enhancing the work of the iConsultancy, which oversees experiential learning for the College. The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester (fall and spring) while also supporting iConsultancy. The successful candidate will teach capstone and other experiential courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, engage with external stakeholders, participate in shared governance within the university, and participate actively in the life of the college.

Academic Advisor

The Undergraduate Advisor will report to the Advising Manager of Undergraduate Programs and ensure the timely and high quality academic advising support to incoming and current INFO College undergraduate students. Academic advising will include providing information about the creation and review of 4-year plans, degree requirements, course selection, university policies and procedures, degree progress, and graduation clearances to a student body representing a variety of backgrounds and abilities. Advising may take place in one-on-one or group settings and in both face-to-face and online formats. The Undergraduate Advisor will also assist in the execution of events related to academics and student life for INFO College undergraduate programs within the College of Information.

Assistant Director of Sponsored Projects

The Assistant Director of Sponsored Projects will lead a team of Business Managers who provide financial and administrative support to our faculty in the areas of pre- and post- award management, financial analysis, and navigation of the various administrative functions around campus. This position will lead the future development of structure and processes of this team as the College continues to grow and our faculty base and needs expands. A component of this position will be to work with others in the College to craft policies and procedures for Sponsored Projects services that align with various University, State, Federal, and other sponsor policies.

Director of Undergraduate Programs

The Director of Academic Programs – Undergraduate is responsible for providing operational leadership for the undergraduate programs offered by the UMD INFO College, as well as overseeing all instructor support activities for both undergraduate and graduate INFO programs, including certificate programs, etc.. The Director will also work with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Executive Director for Academics, and other College leaders to identify and implement incremental innovations and operational capabilities that advance the INFO College’s educational mission.
