iSchool News - July 23, 2020

UMD iSchool faculty discuss having confidence in government and institutions despite growing mistrust caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a time of crisis, people look to the government and other sources of leadership for accurate information and guidance. Confidence with the federal government, state governments, and news media outlets is now at an all-time low. The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic is a moment in history when people have acutely felt this lack of confidence. If we lose faith in our institutions and government, who can we trust? What can be done to restore that trust?

To answer these questions, University of Maryland iSchool faculty members participated in the July 1, 2020 virtual panel discussion, Confidence in Institutions in a Time of Mistrust, featuring Dr. Michael Hanmer, Dr. Nicol Turner-Lee, Dr. Ronald Yaros, and Dr. Jennifer Golbeck as the panel moderator.

Hear from members of our University of Maryland iSchool faculty for a thought-provoking discussion on this erosion of trust as it relates to organizations, leadership, and information in a time of unprecedented social and economic challenges by clicking the link here.
