HCIL’s 39th Annual Symposium

Community Events Student Events

Date/Time: Thursday, May 26, 2022 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us for the 39th Annual HCIL Symposium on May 26, 2022, as we welcome participants back in-person! The HCIL symposium brings together top HCI thinkers and influencers from academia and industry for presentations on innovative research on UX, accessibility, and other HCI topics; demonstrations of new technologies; and discussions by key leaders in the HCI field.

Attend in person to pick up a swag bag, participate in workshops or tutorials, see all the talks, and network with other attendees at the poster session and reception. Or, if you can’t make it to campus, attend virtually to get access to all the talks. All registrants will have access to a recording of the talks after the event, as well as an event program with abstracts for each talk.

The symposium will take place throughout the day on Thursday, May 26, with the main event (plenary, talks, panels) running from 12:30pm-5:30pm EST. Preview the schedule here: https://hcil.umd.edu/2022-symposium/

This year, most presenters will give short “lightning talks” across six topic areas: child-centered design and learning; technology and aging; privacy and security; creativity and human-centered AI; accessible & interactive design; and communication & collaboration.

There will also be three plenary talks from HCIL faculty and a panel discussion on information quality and online influence.
