CAFe Event: Douglass Day Transcribe-a-Thon 2025
UMD Students—in celebration of the chosen birthday of Frederick Douglass, please join us for a day of fun, food, and connection! (Please be sure to bring your laptop!)
Description:
Please join members of the Center for Archival Futures (CAFe), the INFO college community, ARHU community, and others across campus to transcribe historical documents as a part of the Library of Congress By the People crowdsourcing project. Resulting transcriptions increase the accessibility of non-machine readable primary source materials.
Hosted annually on February 14, Frederick Douglass’ chosen birthday, we will join with people around the country and the world to learn about his life, work, and legacy, and the work of his contemporaries.
Additional Information:
Please contact infoevents@umd.edu at least one week prior to the event to request disability accommodations. In all situations, a good faith effort (up until the time of the event) will be made to provide accommodations.
