UMD faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends – join us! INFO’s renowned Jen Golbeck is delivering this year’s University of Maryland (UMD) Homecoming Address. We are hosting a UMD+friends viewing party in-person with Jen Golbeck that will include a hors d’oeuvres, a viewing of the Homecoming Address, and a robust in-person discussion with Jen and other AI experts.

Schedule:

  • 4:00 PM: Reception with Refreshments
  • 5:00 PM: Talk: “Framing AI on Campus,” by Dr. Keith Marzullo, Dean
  • 5:10 PM: Viewing Party: Dr. Jen Golbeck Homecoming Address
    • Address Description: More and more, AI is making headlines for its eerie ability to imitate what humans do. In the 2023 UMD Homecoming Address, computer scientist Jen Golbeck, a professor in the UMD College of Information Studies (INFO) who researches artificial intelligence, social media, and malicious online behavior, will challenge you to pay greater heed to how AI increasingly influences our lives.
  • 5:20 PM – 6:00 PM: Panel Discussion and Q&A ft. Dr. Jen Golbeck
