ARHU Dean’s Colloquium series on Race, Equity and Justice

We will be featuring Dr. Marisa Parham, Director of the African American Digital Humanities Initiative, professor of English, and Associate Director for the Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities.
Tuesday, October 6, 9 am – 10 a.m., via zoom
Dr. Parham’s talk, “Purpose, Frivolity, Futures: What, really, is inclusion?,” explores how understanding difference as a technology may help us expand people’s possibilities for participation in civic, scholarly, and commercial worlds. Dr. Parham situates histories of Black playfulness and innovation against inclusion narratives that ultimately seek to flatten or ignore differences.
