BIO

Miranda Downey is a PhD student at the College of Information, advised by Dr. Beth St. Jean. Her research interests include the information behaviors, needs, and experiences of people with chronic illnesses and disabilities, with a focus on women with autoimmune diseases. Her most current research focuses on the information-related behaviors of women with lupus (SLE) and the relationship between information behavior and changes in disease activity. In addition to her courses and duties as a research assistant, Miranda teaches an undergraduate course on information user needs and assessment for students in the Information Science and Technology & Information Design programs. She holds an MLIS from the University of Maryland and a BS in Art History from Towson University.
