BIO

Melissa Wertheimer is a Senior Music Reference Specialist in the Library of Congress Music Division where she is responsible for web archives curation, reference, outreach, instruction, and acquisitions. She has served as Chair of the Society of American Archivists Web Archiving Section, Archivist of the Music Library Association, a NDSA Web Archiving in the United States Survey Working Group member, and a Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference mentor. She researches relationships between performing arts, web archives, digital preservation, and archival theory. She has been invited to give lectures and workshops by the International Internet Preservation Consortium; Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation; Center for Digital Culture and Society at the University of Pennsylvania; and Hillwood Estate, Museum, and Gardens. She holds a Digital Archives Specialist Certificate from the Society of American Archivists; MLIS in Archives and Digital Curation from the University of Maryland, College Park; Master of Music in Piccolo from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University; and Bachelor of Music in Flute from Ithaca College.
