BIO

I have taught classes on metadata, the lifecycle of information, research methods and research ethics, fake news and misinformation, and library instruction and information literacy. My publications include a recent co-edited book of library history, chapters and articles about academic publishing models and the quantification of higher education, the student experience in higher education, other works of library history, articles about digital history and digital humanities and many essays on the uses and abuses of information in our society. I am also an historian of 17th Century Europe and the Atlantic world. Currently I am the head of the Humanities and Social Science librarians in the McKeldin Library and the Chair of the University Senate.
