BIO

I am a former librarian at St. Albans School for Boys (17 years) and Washington Latin Public Charter School (2 years), I have served on the Newbery, Caldecott, and Notable Children’s Book Committee for the American Library Association for Children. I review picture books for Booklist Magazine and give semi-annual presentations on good books for children to Montgomery County School Librarians. I have presented at various conferences on the use of picture books for older readers, creating reading interest for boys, use of storytelling in the classroom. I am a past president of the Washington Children’s Book Guild, the Metropolitan Independent Librarian’s Association.

I am very interested in racial and social justice and pursue those goals in my professional life and as a volunteer at the Washington National Cathedral where I serve on a programming committee for the Cathedral Congregation.
