Babak Hamidzadeh

BIO

Babak Hamidzadeh has served as the Interim Dean of UMD Libraries and as Associate Dean for Digital Services and Technologies at the University of Maryland Libraries. Prior to joining the University of Maryland, he was Director of the Repository Development Center at the Library of Congress, where he led a team and data center that developed and deployed large-scale digital archives and libraries. He has held senior management positions with the research division of the Boeing Company, and held several faculty positions at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and at the University of Science and Technology in Hong Kong. He received his doctorate in computer science and engineering from the University of Minnesota. His research interests are in applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to record keeping, data management and archives, and in the accountability of AI as applied to data and records.
