Faculty Spotlight: Renee Hill, Principal Lecturer

headshot of Renee HillRenee Hill finds it hard to believe she’s already in her fourth year at the iSchool, perhaps because she feels it’s a match made in heaven. She settled into the iSchool as if she’s always been here, perhaps thanks to fellow Florida State University Seminoles (John Bertot, Paul Jaeger, and Mega Subramaniam), but more likely because the part-instructional, part-administrative position was a perfect fit. In her instructional role, she designs and teaches librarianship courses, especially to those wanting to deliver information services in K–12 schools. Renee is not only the Director of the School Library Specialization and Certificate Program, but is also the Associate Diversity and Inclusion Officer and Equity Administrator. Her passion for diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice is revealed in her extensive publication record and in the book she is currently editing. Renee’s colleagues recognize her exemplary research, teaching, and service and recently promoted her to Principal Lecturer. The iSchool’s own diversity in the people it brings together and its inclusive culture is one she is proud to be a part of. In true librarian style, Renee loves to read–as long as it has a good story, it doesn’t matter whether it’s fiction or nonfiction–in her spare time. She is truly appreciative of her biggest supporters–her husband, kids, and parents–and takes every opportunity to say thanks and send love.
