HCIL Launches new Blog Site: Sparks of Innovation: Stories from the HCIL

Tied at the #8 spot with a total of 14 papers accepted, the Human-Computer Interaction lab (HCIL) at the University of Maryland is headed to Glasgow, Scotland next month for the CHI 2019 conference, one of the top venues globally for researchers in the human-computer interaction field!

In preparation for the CHI 2019 conference, on April 25, 2019, the HCIL launched its new blog site, Sparks of Innovation: Stories from the HCIL. The new HCIL blog site is published by editors Niklas Elmqvist, associate professor and HCIL director; Catherine Plaisant, senior research scientist; Ben Shneiderman, HCIL member; and a team of talented writers.

Sparks of Innovation: Stories from the HCIL features stories of research, events, and activities at the HCIL. The HCIL has a rich history of transforming the experience people have with new technologies. From understanding user needs, to developing and evaluating those technologies, the lab’s faculty, staff, and students have been leading the way in HCI research and teaching. In this publication, this tradition is continued with HCIL communicating their research to a general audience in a popular, inclusive, and accessible way.

You can read more about all of the contributions that HCIL members will be presenting during the CHI 2019 conference and more HCIL news and research here.
